Neighbourhood Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Neighbourhood Officer to join a busy local authority housing service in Welwyn Garden City. You will deliver high‑quality tenancy and neighbourhood management services, supporting residents and helping to maintain safe, sustainable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide housing and tenancy management across an assigned patch.
• Handle tenancy issues, neighbourhood concerns and estate‑management matters.
• Investigate and resolve tenancy breaches and anti‑social behaviour.
• Conduct tenancy audits, sign‑ups, home visits and estate inspections.
• Support vulnerable tenants and facilitate access to external support services.
• Manage tenancy changes such as successions and mutual exchanges.
• Respond promptly to customer enquiries and complaints.
• Maintain accurate case records and information.
• Work collaboratively with residents, contractors and external agencies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in housing or tenancy management.
• Good understanding of housing legislation and enforcement.
• Experience handling challenging and sensitive casework.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritize effectively.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

• £29.50 per hour (umbrella rate).
• Full‑time hours on a minimum three‑month contract, with potential extension.
