Network Engineer – Cisco (Hybrid, 12‑Month Contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer with a strong Cisco background to join our client’s team in Bracknell. The role is hybrid and initially runs for 12 months, providing hands‑on responsibility for incident management, troubleshooting and network optimisation across a multinational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide triage, analysis and resolution of network incidents, acting as Major Incident Manager when required.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco, Meraki and other networking equipment.
• Participate in a global on‑call rotation, including occasional weekend duties.
• Use network management systems to pinpoint issues, collect packet captures and perform initial diagnostics.
• Collaborate with local contacts and service providers to resolve connectivity and hardware problems.
• Identify capacity and performance improvements and recommend design changes.
• Maintain CMDB data and update internal knowledge‑base articles.
• Fulfil DNS/DHCP requests and implement changes defined by the design team.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience supporting large, multi‑national corporate networks.
• Proven expertise with Cisco IOS and the Meraki dashboard.
• Experience configuring WLAN technologies and working with Cisco NSO, SAE, UCS, ISE and DUO (desired).
• CCNA certification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly under pressure.

What we offer

• Rate of £58 per hour (inside IR35, umbrella company required).
• Hybrid working arrangement based in Bracknell.
• Initial 12‑month contract with the possibility of extension.
