Network Engineer L3

About the role

Claranet Limited is seeking a Level 3 Network Engineer to join its team in Barnwood. The role focuses on designing, implementing and supporting complex network services for financial‑services clients while ensuring strict regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve incidents across SD‑WAN, WAN, LAN/WLAN, VPN/SASE and load‑balancing platforms.
• Implement network configuration changes using approved templates and security baselines, maintaining full audit trails.
• Validate device configurations, firmware posture and compliance with sector‑specific standards.
• Support onboarding of new sites/services using Zero‑Touch Provisioning and Infrastructure‑as‑Code pipelines.
• Manage routing policies, QoS, wireless performance tuning and load‑balancer updates.
• Collaborate with vendors on escalated transport or device issues, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
• Enrich the CMDB through topology validation and asset reconciliation.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Level 2 engineers.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on network engineering experience, preferably within a regulated financial‑services environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with compliance frameworks such as FCA, PRA, DORA, ISO 27001 or SOC.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a focus on operational resilience.

Required skills

• Advanced routing & switching (BGP, OSPF, ACLs, NAT).
• SD‑WAN technologies (Fortinet, Cisco).
• Wireless LAN operations and performance tuning.
• Load‑balancing platforms (F5 or equivalent).
• Automation/scripting with Python, Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with network compliance, configuration management and infrastructure documentation.
