About the role
Join Viberoptix as a Network Maintenance Operative to play a critical role in maintaining high-speed connectivity across Cumbria. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of our fiber optic infrastructure through both proactive maintenance and rapid emergency response to network outages.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain and uphold fiber infrastructure in strict accordance with PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) standards.
- Perform complex cabling and fusion splicing to repair defects, with a primary focus on aerial network components.
- Diagnose, test, and locate network faults using advanced equipment such as OTDR, lux meters, and splicing kits.
- Resolve individual customer issues as well as large-scale network incidents efficiently.
- Accurately document all repairs, damages, and completed works via internal reporting systems.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and industry best practices.
- Manage and maintain company vehicles, tools, and specialized equipment in peak condition.
- Follow maintenance schedules strictly to optimize operational efficiency and meet deadlines.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in fiber cabling, splicing, and advanced fault finding.
- Strong technical knowledge of the Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) process.
- Hands-on experience with aerial infrastructure, including working with poles, ladders, and at heights.
- Ability to interpret complex test results from fiber diagnostic equipment.
- A proactive, organized, and solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of teamwork.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Full UK Driving License is mandatory.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and emergency call-outs.
