Network Security Engineer (SOC)

About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Network Security Engineer to join a department focused on protecting critical systems and ensuring the security of network infrastructure. The role works closely with the SOC team to respond to incidents and implement robust security measures.

Key responsibilities

• Playing a key role in safeguarding the organisation's network infrastructure.
• Working with the SOC team on incident response and triage activity.
• Designing and implementing robust security solutions to protect against threats.
• Collaborating with cross‑functional teams, implementing changes securely.
• Identifying vulnerabilities and managing security incidents.
• Ensuring compliance with industry best practices.

Required profile

• Understanding of cyber security capabilities.
• Existing knowledge of Darktrace Antigena and Respond.
• Strong ability to interpret complex information via packet capture.
• Proven ability to review SOC alerting.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching and VLANs).
• Configuring and troubleshooting firewalls (Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto).
• Hands‑on experience with next‑gen firewalls and advanced security features.
• Experience managing secure proxy solutions.
• Understanding of network architectures and security zones.
• In‑depth knowledge of security protocols.
• Proficiency with monitoring technologies.
