New Business Account Handler

About the role

We are seeking a proactive New Business Account Handler to join a growing commercial insurance brokerage in Manchester. You will be the first point of contact for prospective commercial clients, guiding them from initial enquiry through to policy inception and ensuring a smooth, professional experience.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to new business enquiries, gather risk information and prepare quotations.
• Liaise with insurers to secure competitive terms aligned with client needs.
• Assist with onboarding new clients, ensuring accurate documentation and communication.
• Support early client relationships and identify opportunities to enhance coverage.
• Maintain effective relationships with insurer partners to facilitate placements.
• Participate in market presentations and negotiations under senior guidance.
• Manage client data, transactions and policy documentation using the CRM system.
• Monitor tasks to meet service standards and deadlines.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive new business acquisition.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and stay up‑to‑date with product and market knowledge.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial insurance account handling or client service, preferably with new business exposure.
• Strong understanding of insurance processes, market placements and policy documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer‑focused, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Acturis (insurance software) – preferred.
• Microsoft Office suite.

• Competitive salary £30,000‑£42,000 per year, dependent on experience.
