New Product Development Chemist

About the role

We are a leading, environmentally‑focused coatings company seeking a New Product Development Chemist to drive ideas from concept to commercial launch. You will own a portfolio of development projects and contribute directly to our growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and execute product and process development projects from ideation through to market launch.
• Assess new product ideas, estimating deliverables, timelines, benefits, resources and costs.
• Prioritise development work, coordinate technical requests and report progress with clear go/no‑go decisions.
• Organise and support trials, guiding projects through to full production.
• Engage external expertise such as suppliers, consultants, test houses and academic partners.
• Share project learnings across the business and provide technical support on specifications, material changes, customer complaints and operational issues.

Required profile

• Solid experience in product or process development within coatings, paper, film, chemicals or a related manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end development projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with commercial awareness.
• Clear communicator comfortable presenting proposals to customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related field.
• Experience in laboratory testing, R&D, quality control or technical services.
