About the role

Join RELX’s Global News & Business Taxonomies & Indexing team as a News Taxonomist. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on training and mentorship to develop expertise in taxonomy design, semantic enrichment, and AI‑supported knowledge work across worldwide news and business content.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain taxonomy structures covering subjects, industries, geographies, people, and events.
• Create and refine classification rules, including synonyms, variants, and scope guidance.
• Review and optimise classification to improve search precision and recall.
• Analyse global news and business content to spot emerging topics and evolving terminology.
• Research and define new concepts, ensuring consistency with taxonomy standards.
• Leverage AI tools for taxonomy work while critically evaluating AI‑generated output.
• Contribute to taxonomy standards, documentation, and best‑practice sharing.
• Collaborate with colleagues across a global, multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

• Strong interest in global news, current events, business, economics, or geopolitics.
• Excellent written English.
• Analytical thinking and solid research abilities.
• Aptitude for recognising patterns and organising information.
