NFP Senior Audit Associate

About the role

This senior audit position focuses on the charity and not‑for‑profit sector, offering the chance to work with a diverse portfolio of organisations ranging from social charities to universities. You will join one of the UK’s largest specialist charity audit teams, based in the City of London.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver audit engagements for a wide variety of not‑for‑profit clients, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and firm methodology.
• Prepare statutory and consolidated accounts from both manual and computerised records.
• Identify and recommend improvements to clients' accounting systems and internal controls, supporting implementation where required.
• Lead audit planning, execute fieldwork, and finalise audit files, including audit highlights memoranda, management letters and representation letters.
• Supervise, review and provide feedback to junior team members, completing formal review documentation.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, assist managers with fee notes, and support business development activities such as client meetings and proposal preparation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of auditing standards and fulfil CPD requirements.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
• Solid experience in external audit, from planning through to completion, preferably within the charity or not‑for‑profit sector.
• Proven ability to prepare statutory and consolidated accounts.
• Experience supervising junior staff and contributing to business development.
