Night Care Assistant – Residential Care Home

About the role

We are looking for a Night Care Assistant to join our new 60‑bed St Giles View care home in Winchester. The role involves providing person‑centred care throughout the night shift, supporting residents with personal care, health needs and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personal care to residents in a respectful, person‑centred manner.
• Support residents who are unwell or approaching end of life, following care plans.
• Act as a key‑worker for assigned residents, assisting nurses with care plan documentation.
• Record observations, report changes and ensure accurate shift handover.
• Communicate with families, providing updates while maintaining confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the Activities Team to organise group and one‑to‑one activities.
• Liaise with external agencies as required.

Required profile

• Passionate about delivering high‑quality, dignified care.
• Reliable, adaptable and able to work well within a team.
• Good communication skills and a caring attitude.
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care preferred but not essential.

Required skills

• Ability to perform personal care tasks safely.
• Basic record‑keeping and documentation skills.
• Understanding of health and safety and infection control procedures.
