Night HGV Driver and Operative

About the role

This is a night‑shift position supporting historic building restoration projects across London. The role combines HGV driving, truck‑mount operation and general on‑site assistance for specialist teams.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and operate company lorries, truck mounts and MEWPs during night hours (20:30‑05:30).
• Load, unload, strap down and conduct thorough road‑worthiness checks on vehicles.
• Assist specialists with basic construction tasks and site clean‑up.
• Disseminate health and safety information and ensure compliance.
• Respond to enquiries and maintain clear communication within the team.
• Meet clients and help foster positive relationships.

Required profile

• Valid Category C driving licence (Class 2); Category C+E or Class 1 highly desirable.
• Comfortable working at heights (truck mounts reach >50 m).
• Willingness to work nights and occasional weekends.
• IPAF experience operating truck‑mount platforms (category 1b preferred).
• Flexibility to adapt to early mornings, nights and weekend shifts.

Required skills

• Category C (and preferably C+E) driving licence.
• IPAF certification for truck‑mount platforms (category 1b).
• MEWP (mobile elevating work platform) operation.
• HIAB or truck‑mount handling experience.
• CSCS card (desirable).

What we offer

• 40‑hour week with overtime paid at 1.5× (enhanced rates for 22:00‑06:00).
• 21 days annual leave plus incremental days up to 25, plus bank and public holidays.
