Night Shift Maintenance Engineer

About the role

This newly created position provides mechanical maintenance coverage on the night shift for a well‑established, COMAH‑regulated manufacturing site in Wickford. You will join a three‑engineer team responsible for keeping production running smoothly during the 10 pm‑6 am window.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on all plant and site services.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults to minimise unplanned downtime.
• Support overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) improvements and reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and contribute to continuous‑improvement projects.
• Provide on‑site electrical assistance when required, acting as the sole engineer on shift if needed.

Required profile

• Proven mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on background with pre‑planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance.
• Basic electrical competency.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and diagnostic ability.
• Mechanical engineering qualification (apprenticeship preferred) or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Experience working within a manufacturing setting.
