Night Support Worker – Children’s Home

About the role

As a Night Support Worker you will look after young people living in a children’s home during the overnight hours (four nights on, four nights off). You will provide immediate emotional and practical support when a resident wakes distressed, ill or in crisis, while also maintaining the home’s cleanliness and administrative tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24‑hour safety and emotional support to residents during night shifts.
• Respond promptly to trauma‑related episodes, illness, or distress.
• Build trusting relationships so residents feel secure and heard.
• Complete required paperwork, record keeping and incident reports.
• Carry out cleaning, laundry and general upkeep of the home.
• Collaborate with day‑time staff to ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Compassionate and able to work independently during night hours.
• Strong attendance record and willingness to work a 4‑on/4‑off rota.
• Ability to remain calm and supportive in crisis situations.
• Good communication skills and a genuine desire to help vulnerable young people.
