Night Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Night Support Worker to join a college environment supporting young adults aged 16‑25 with social, emotional, autism and mental health needs. The role involves providing safe, supportive overnight care in students' homes.

Key responsibilities

• Follow handover from day team and support students with evening routines.
• Mentor and encourage participation in evening activities, sports and hobbies both on‑site and off‑site.
• Provide verbal and visual prompts to promote independence in budgeting, cooking and housekeeping.
• Act as the primary liaison for parents and carers, ensuring health and medical needs are addressed throughout the night.
• Offer emotional support and a listening ear after a busy day.

Required profile

• Positive, creative attitude with willingness to participate.
• Ability to encourage independence and provide social/emotional behavioural support.
• Understanding of good care practices and empowerment of young people.
• Own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence due to rural location.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use visual prompting techniques.
