Night Transport Planner – Container Haulage

About the role

The company is seeking a Night Transport Planner to support its busy container haulage operations at the port. Working the night shift (20:00‑06:00) you will coordinate vehicle movements, assist drivers and ensure a smooth hand‑over to the day team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate night‑time vehicle movements and driver activity.
• Execute transport plans efficiently and resolve any operational issues promptly.
• Liaise with drivers, planners, operators and fleet teams to maintain service levels.
• Monitor delays, breakdowns, missed VBS slots and other challenges.
• Support cost control, reporting and continuous operational improvements.
• Complete shift handovers with clear communication.
• Assist with fleet availability and equipment coordination.

Required profile

• Previous experience in UK transport operations, preferably container haulage or port logistics.
• Background in transport planning, traffic operations or coordination.
• Understanding of container movements and port processes is desirable.
• Strong communication, organisational abilities and the capacity to work under pressure.
• Proactive problem‑solving attitude.

Required skills

• Experience with VBS bookings, driver management or fleet coordination (advantageous).
