Nighttime Roadside Technician – Reading & Oxford

About the role

Join RAC’s Patrol division as a Nighttime Roadside Technician, supporting members across the Reading and Oxford clusters. You’ll work from home each day, travelling to local breakdown sites to diagnose and repair vehicles during night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical roadside repairs, including battery replacement, tyre changes and complex fault‑finding.
• Provide emergency breakdown assistance and clear communication to members.
• Maintain and operate a company‑provided RAC van, fuel card, uniform and diagnostic equipment.
• Document service activities and ensure safety standards are met.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience, **or** 5 years’ experience as a vehicle technician/mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.

• Competitive base salary of £42,921.87 per year (inclusive of night allowance).
