NIHR Clinical Lecturer – Fully Funded Postdoctoral Position

About the role

The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester is offering a fully funded NIHR Clinical Lectureship. This postdoctoral position supports clinicians who have recently completed a higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent) and hold a National Training Number. The role combines 50% research and academic development with 50% specialty clinical training.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research and contribute to the university’s academic output.
• Develop and deliver academic skills training aligned with the Integrated Academic Training programme.
• Complete ongoing specialty clinical training leading to CCT.
• Apply for National Clinician Scientist Awards within the four‑year appointment.
• Participate in clinical leadership activities and multidisciplinary collaborations.

Required profile

• Recent completion of a higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent).
• Holder of a National Training Number (NTN) prior to start.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership potential.
• Commitment to a combined research and clinical training pathway.
