NQ Solicitor

About the role

The Portfolio Group is expanding its legal team and is looking for a motivated solicitor to join a dynamic, commercially‑focused practice in Manchester. Whether you are newly qualified (NQ) with a desire to build your own caseload or an experienced solicitor with a broad commercial background, you will work on a variety of matters across litigation, corporate, civil and employment law.

Key responsibilities

• Manage County Court litigation from initial instructions through to trial and post‑judgment matters.
• Conduct regulatory investigations, interviews under caution, inquests and prosecutions arising from workplace incidents.
• Provide commercial legal advice, support dispute resolution and contribute to potential M&A transactions.
• Handle non‑contentious employment issues and represent clients in Employment Tribunal proceedings.
• Advise and support companies within the Group on a wide range of legal matters.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (NQ) or solicitor with proven experience in commercial, corporate, civil or employment law.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and a commercial mindset.
• Ability to manage a busy workload, work collaboratively and develop business.
