Numeracy Teacher – Nurture Class (Brighton)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Numeracy Teacher to join our nurture class in Brighton. You will work within an alternative provision setting, helping pupils rebuild confidence in maths and achieve solid core numeracy outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated KS1 and KS2 maths lessons.
• Support students in developing core numeracy skills and confidence.
• Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
• Monitor, assess and track student progress regularly.
• Implement targeted interventions and personalised learning plans.
• Collaborate with pastoral staff, SEN teams and external professionals.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching maths at KS3 and KS4 level.
• Understanding of working with students with additional needs (SEN/SEMH).
• Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
