Nursery Assistant – Flexible Cover in South West London

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic Nursery Assistants to provide flexible cover across primary and nursery schools in South West London. The role involves supporting teachers and room leaders in delivering high‑quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and delivering daily activities for children aged 2‑5.
• Provide cover for unexpected or planned absences in nursery, reception and rising 2 classes.
• Support classroom teachers with lesson preparation, resource setup and child supervision.
• Maintain a safe, clean and stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment.
• Record attendance and communicate any concerns to senior staff.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years or Teaching Assistant.
• Willingness to obtain or already hold an enhanced DBS check.
• Flexibility to work various shift patterns (e.g., 8 am‑4 pm, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm, 9 am‑5 pm).
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, can‑do attitude.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Ability to follow safeguarding and health‑and‑safety procedures.
