Nursery Assistant

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting Nursery Assistants for early years settings in Bristol. The role is ideal for a warm, enthusiastic individual who wants to support young children’s development in a safe and stimulating environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day care and supervision of children in the nursery.
• Assist with planned EYFS activities that promote learning through play.
• Encourage social, emotional and communication development.
• Help with feeding, toileting and personal care as needed.
• Set up, tidy and maintain activity and learning areas.
• Promote positive behaviour and build children’s confidence.
• Observe and report children’s progress to senior staff.
• Support routines such as mealtimes, nap times and transitions.
• Work collaboratively with nursery staff and management.
• Follow safeguarding, welfare and child protection procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with young children (nursery or early years experience desirable).
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
• Understanding of early years development (EYFS knowledge beneficial).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
• Right to work in the UK.
