Nursery Assistant – Level 3 (Flexible, Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Nursery Assistant to provide short‑term, ad‑hoc and bank cover across a range of nurseries in Colchester and surrounding Essex areas. This flexible role offers the chance to work in diverse early‑years settings while fitting around your personal schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily care, safety and development of children.
• Assist with play‑based learning activities and educational experiences.
• Promote a fun, nurturing and stimulating environment.
• Help with mealtimes, routines and personal care as needed.
• Collaborate with nursery teams to deliver high‑quality childcare.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies at all times.

Required profile

• Hold a CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare Qualification, or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Passionate about working with children and reliable, punctual and professional.
• Friendly, approachable with excellent communication skills.
• Flexible and adaptable to different nursery settings.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and early‑years best practice.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
