Nursery Assistant – Temporary Role

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic Nursery Assistants to join early years settings in Wakefield on a temporary basis. The role involves supporting daily routines and delivering high‑quality, play‑based learning for children aged 0‑5. Flexible full‑time or part‑time options are available.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily routines and transitions within the nursery.
• Deliver care and learning through play‑based, child‑centred activities.
• Encourage children’s development by facilitating meaningful play experiences.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment.
• Follow EYFS, safeguarding and health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
• Professional, reliable and caring attitude.
• DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
