Nursery Chef – Early Years Kitchen Role

About the role

Kindred Nurseries are looking for a passionate Nursery Chef to prepare nutritious meals for young children in their Bourne nursery. You will create warm, homely mealtime experiences while ensuring food safety and meeting dietary needs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals following Kindred menus and Safer Food Better Business guidance.
• Meet children’s dietary requirements and allergies, providing suitable alternatives.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
• Complete daily cleaning checks and record them on checklists.
• Serve meals in line with nursery routines and manage laundry duties.
• Monitor and order kitchen and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Use signage to highlight wet floors or hazards and follow health & safety policies.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and staff.
• Participate in staff meetings and nursery events.

Required profile

• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Friendly, positive approach when working with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Clear understanding of health & safety, food safety, and safeguarding responsibilities.

Required skills

• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Knowledge of Safer Food Better Business guidelines.
• Knowledge of COSHH guidelines.
