Nursery Manager

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Nursery Manager to cover a maternity leave at a small, friendly school nursery in Wigan. This full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday position offers excellent working hours (8:15 am‑4:00 pm) and the chance to lead a close‑knit early years team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership and management to the nursery staff, ensuring high standards of care and early education.
• Oversee the implementation of the EYFS curriculum, creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment.
• Maintain strong, supportive relationships with parents, carers and the wider school community.
• Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and all regulatory requirements.
• Manage day‑to‑day administration and facilitate smooth transitions for children into the wider school setting.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (Degree or Level 5/6 management qualification highly desirable).
• Proven experience as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager or strong Room Leader ready to step up.
• In‑depth knowledge of the EYFS framework and excellent safeguarding practice.
• Warm, approachable leadership style with strong communication skills.
• Current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to process one through Tradewind).
