Nursery Practitioner

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join our team in London. You will work as part of a caring team to provide a safe, stimulating environment where children can develop to their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate activities that meet the EYFS framework and provide high‑quality experiences for all children.
• Act as a key person for a designated group, partnering with parents/carers to support each child’s progress.
• Record observations on play, behaviour and development, maintaining learning journals and sharing updates with families.
• Carry out regular risk assessments and ensure the nursery environment is safe and inclusive.
• Support and supervise students alongside the deputy, completing assessments as required.
• Participate in all nursery meetings, including supervision, parent/carer meetings and staff briefings.
• Attend statutory safeguarding training and adhere to safeguarding guidelines.
• Maintain suitable nursery routines while considering individual child needs.

Required profile

• Strong ability to engage with and relate to young children.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Team‑player who can support colleagues and collaborate with external professionals.
• Confidence in engaging parents, carers and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work with parents/carers confidentially and sensitively.

Required skills

• Knowledge of current childcare legislation and the EYFS statutory framework.
• Experience planning and delivering care and education activities.
• Proficiency in recording observations and maintaining learning journals.
• Capability to conduct risk assessments and ensure a safe environment.
• Understanding of children’s dietary, cultural, personal and medical needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding children and completing required training.
