Nursery Room Head – Maternity Cover (4‑day week)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Early Years Educator to lead a nursery room on a maternity cover basis from January 2026 to March 2027. The role is full‑time (40 hours) with the option to work a 4‑day week, allowing you to enjoy an extra day off each week.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, develop and motivate a small team of early years staff.
• Plan and deliver a wide range of educational activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
• Create engaging learning environments and showcase the room to prospective parents.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Promote child welfare and ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed.

Required profile

• NVQ/Cache Level 3 or equivalent qualification (e.g., Early Years Diploma, NNEB, Montessori Diploma, Early Years Degree or QTS).
• Proven experience as a Room Leader or Nursery Manager.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and child development.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, energetic and able to organise and plan effectively.
