Nursery Room Lead

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Room Lead to manage a vibrant early years setting in Chingford. You will be responsible for ensuring the room runs smoothly, delivering high‑quality care and education, and upholding safeguarding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and inspire the nursery team to achieve the highest standards of care and education.
• Conduct 1‑to‑1 meetings, supervisions and performance reviews to support staff development.
• Oversee curriculum delivery, ensuring a child‑centred approach aligned with EYFS and the Quality Assurance Framework.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies, governing legislation and safeguarding procedures.
• Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, managing day‑to‑day child protection policies.
• Collaborate with the Nursery Manager on succession planning, training and personal development.
• Ensure daily operational tasks such as hygiene standards, room preparation and health & safety are met.

• Commitment to continuous improvement of safeguarding and safety culture.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a larger team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Familiarity with quality assurance and curriculum planning processes.
