Nursery Teacher (Primary) – 1-year contract in Redbridge

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Nursery Teacher to lead a team in our expanding nursery in Redbridge. The role starts in September on a one‑year contract, offering the chance to develop early years learners and progress within the school.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, play‑based lessons in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Teach Key Stage 1 curriculum, meeting Teachers’ Standards and QTS expectations.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support pupils in phonics, reading, writing and numeracy development.
• Deliver high‑quality phonics sessions and use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress.
• Differentiate lessons for pupils of all abilities, including SEND and EAL learners.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and plan targeted interventions to close attainment gaps.
• Prepare pupils for Key Stage 1 SATs and work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Previous experience in early years or nursery settings.
• Strong passion for early years education and child development.
• Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
• Proactive, initiative‑taking attitude and ability to lead a team.
