Nursery Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking caring and proactive individuals to support young children in Nursery and EYFS settings across Sutton. The role involves delivering learning through play, assisting with phonics and early communication, and providing tailored support for children with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils across Nursery and EYFS.
• Support pupils with mild to moderate SEND, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to monitor pupil progress and well‑being.
• Support the preparation of learning resources and classroom activities.

Required profile

• Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Recent experience working in a UK primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly in a 1:1 capacity.
• Strong communication, patience and adaptability.
• Enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning and development.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
