Occupational Therapist – Immediate Start – London

About the role

This full‑time, temporary position is with London Authority’s First Response, Reablement and Assessment Service. The role involves delivering initial assessments for service users with complex care and therapy needs, supporting them to achieve independence in their homes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users across First Response, Reablement and Assessment services.
• Develop client‑centred goals and provide evidence‑based interventions to promote independence and wellbeing.
• Assess and recommend equipment and manual handling solutions to reduce injury risk and care package needs.
• Manage a caseload independently, prioritising tasks and delegating where appropriate.
• Identify users eligible for Continuing Health Care and refer safeguarding concerns.
• Carry out capacity assessments in line with the Care and Mental Capacity Act.
• Recommend cost‑effective specialist equipment and adaptations.
• Complete carer assessments and support informal carers.
• Maintain accurate case records and reports using council IT systems, including Mosaic.

Required profile

• Qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the relevant professional body.
• Experience assessing complex care needs and delivering reablement interventions.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the Care and Mental Capacity Act.
• Ability to work independently, manage caseloads and meet deadlines.
