Occupational Therapist – Temporary, Part‑time, Havering

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join schools and other educational settings across Havering on a temporary, part‑time basis. The role supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs, helping them achieve greater independence and participation in learning.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive OT assessments for pupils with autism, sensory processing difficulties, physical disabilities and other SEN.
• Develop evidence‑based intervention plans targeting functional skills, sensory regulation and motor development.
• Produce written recommendations for EHCPs, annual reviews and school‑based support plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, families and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated support.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group interventions across primary, secondary and post‑16 settings.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with safeguarding, GDPR and professional standards.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration (essential).
• Minimum two years’ experience working with children and young people with SEND.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
• Desirable: Membership of RCOT and experience delivering training to staff or families.

Required skills

• Strong assessment and clinical reasoning abilities.
• Effective report‑writing and documentation skills.
