Ocean Import Coordinator

About the role

The Ocean Import Coordinator will manage the end‑to‑end ocean import process for a forward‑thinking logistics company. Based in Basildon, you will act as the primary liaison between clients, shipping lines and overseas agents, ensuring smooth customs clearance and timely delivery of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import documentation and customs declarations using the CDS system.
• Monitor shipments from departure to arrival, providing regular status updates to stakeholders.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, shipping lines and overseas agents, handling enquiries and issue resolution.
• Resolve shipment delays or discrepancies quickly and professionally.
• Maintain accurate records of all import activities and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as operations, finance and customer service to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in ocean import operations within the UK.
• Strong understanding of UK import regulations and customs procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the CDS (Customs Declaration Service) platform.
