Offshore Inspection Management Team Inspector

About the role

The Health and Safety Executive is seeking an Offshore Inspection Management Team Inspector to join its team in Aberdeen. This permanent, hybrid‑working position involves regulating offshore oil and gas operations, ensuring major accident hazards are managed and legal health‑and‑safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out frontline inspections and investigations on offshore installations and related activities.
• Assess safety management systems, identify risks and influence organisations to improve compliance.
• Investigate major hazard events and serious incidents, determine root causes and recommend improvements.
• Prepare prosecution reports, issue prohibition and improvement notices where required.
• Define and lead intervention strategies for allocated duty holders.
• Manage assessment of safety cases and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Chartered offshore professional with strong operational or technical experience in the oil and gas sector.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyse complex safety issues and communicate findings clearly.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work both on‑site and remotely.
