OGC Lawyer – Conflicts and Ethics

About the role

The OGC Lawyer – Conflicts and Ethics joins Latham & Watkins' Office of the General Counsel, supporting compliance programmes across the EMEA region. Based in London (or Manchester), the role blends legal research, risk management and ethical oversight to ensure the firm meets professional responsibility standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior lawyers and Conflicts Department staff in identifying, evaluating and resolving ethical and business conflict issues for new business and lateral hires.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on conflicts, ethics and professional responsibility matters as directed by Senior Assistant General Counsels.
• Manage general risk‑management programmes, including file audits, accountant letters and contract reviews.
• Review and analyse Outside Counsel Guidelines, engagement letters and other client‑engagement terms.
• Support stakeholders in researching and analysing complex ethics and compliance questions.

Required profile

• Law degree (or equivalent) with a practising certificate or bar membership in the home jurisdiction.
• Qualification as a solicitor, barrister or foreign lawyer with an unfettered right to practice.
• Post‑qualification experience, preferably within a conflicts team or general law‑firm compliance function.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all organisational levels.
