On-board Data Handling Engineer

About the role

ClearSpace is seeking an On‑board Data Handling Engineer to join its Electrical team in London. You will support the technical development of spacecraft data‑handling and avionics architecture across the full mission lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level and detailed data‑handling system engineering, from specification through integration.
• Develop and maintain spacecraft data‑handling architectures, hardware selections and interface definitions.
• Act as the technical point of contact for data‑handling systems with internal teams, flight software, customers and subcontractors.
• Define validation, verification and test plans, support AIV/T activities and generate documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in the space industry, specifically in avionics or data‑handling roles.
• Proven experience with system‑level requirements, interface management and participation in formal reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.).

Required skills

• Knowledge of spacecraft communication buses such as CAN, SpaceWire and Ethernet.
• Experience with programmable logic devices and microcontrollers.
• Ability to produce and manage technical documentation and system budgets.
