One-to-One Teaching Assistant (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Join Selwyn Hall School, a specialist SEN school, as a One-to-One Teaching Assistant. You will work closely with a single pupil or a small group (up to six) to provide tailored support and help them achieve their educational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils.
• Assist the classroom teacher during lessons and help with lesson planning.
• Report on pupil progress, raise concerns and liaise with staff to meet individual needs.
• Supervise pupils during non‑classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
• Prepare classroom materials, set and mark work where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships to encourage interaction and learning outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
• Ideally A‑level education or equivalent.
• Sound IT skills.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
• Experience working with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
