One-to-One Teaching Assistant – Lyttelton House School

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join Lyttelton House School, part of the Polaris Community in Andover, Hampshire. You will work closely with a pupil or a small group of up to six pupils, supporting their academic progress and personal development throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and support one pupil or a small group (max six) during lessons and non-classroom time.
• Assist the classroom teacher with lesson delivery, preparation and marking.
• Monitor and report pupil progress, liaising with staff to ensure individual needs are met.
• Supervise pupils during breaks, extracurricular activities and school trips.
• Contribute to setting and marking work where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships that encourage interaction and learning.

Required profile

• Minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
• Strong basic education, ideally up to A-Level.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with pupils who have SEM‑H needs.
• Experience of behaviour management techniques.
• Willingness to take additional responsibilities such as food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes or school yoga.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
