Operating Theatres Housekeeper

About the role
The Operating Theatres Housekeeper will join the busy theatres team at St. Mary’s Hospital, supporting safe, high‑quality patient care across maternity, gynaecology and women’s health services. You will ensure that all theatre environments are clean, well‑organised and ready for surgical teams.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness within operating theatres, anaesthetic rooms, scrub areas, recovery areas and associated corridors.
- Perform cleaning between cases, end‑of‑list cleans and deep cleans in line with infection prevention and control standards.
- Support efficient theatre turnaround and respond to ad‑hoc cleaning requests during operating lists.
- Restock theatre consumables such as linen, PPE and cleaning supplies.
- Segregate and dispose of clinical and domestic waste correctly.
- Work closely with theatre staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Required profile
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the fast‑paced demands of a busy theatre environment.
- Commitment to health and safety, infection control and confidentiality policies.
- Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with clinical and support staff.
Required skills
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards.
- Experience with proper segregation and disposal of clinical and domestic waste.
- Ability to restock consumables such as linen, PPE and cleaning supplies.
