Operational Excellence Engineer

About the role

The Operational Excellence Engineer joins HelloFresh’s UK Operational Excellence team to drive the delivery, implementation and continuous improvement of production technologies, processes and business propositions across our distribution centres. This hybrid role blends data‑driven analysis with hands‑on shop‑floor execution to boost key KPIs such as error rate, minutes per box and overall productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end OPEX projects, defining scope, milestones and success criteria while ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Support and lead Yellow and Green Belt initiatives using Lean Six Sigma to eliminate waste and improve flow.
• Analyse operational data with Excel, Google Sheets, Grafana, Tableau or SQL and translate insights into actionable decisions.
• Develop low‑code tools (PowerApps, AppSheet) and AI‑enabled solutions to bridge data insights with daily operations.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across shop‑floor operatives to senior management, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
• Maintain a visible presence on the production floor to drive change, support trials and ensure sustainable adoption of new processes.
• Identify risks and bottlenecks early, create mitigation plans and provide transparent status reporting.
• Document standard work, deliver training and embed continuous‑improvement methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations or a related technical field (preferred).
• 2‑3 years of experience in food manufacturing, high‑volume fulfillment or packaging environments.
• Proven experience leading or contributing to operational improvement projects.
