Operational Excellence Internship – 12.5 months

About the role

As part of the Delivery team for the RAF A400M in‑service support contract at Brize Norton, this internship offers a unique opportunity to be part of the operational backbone of a major defence contract. You will support the Head of Operational Excellence and Business Management to drive the Operational Improvements required for the A400M SC.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic support to leadership – manage the communication loop between Airbus and the MoD, prepare high‑quality briefing packs, reports and meeting documentation.
• Transformation & project coordination – track milestones, optimise resources, create engagement materials and support cultural adoption initiatives.
• Operational Excellence & data analytics – assist the rollout of the Airbus Operational Excellence System, facilitate Lean activities, monitor benefit realisation and own a continuous‑improvement initiative.

Required profile

• Undergraduate student (must remain an undergraduate for the full 12.5‑month placement) studying towards a degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Proactive, confident and self‑motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Possession of a UK driving licence and access to a car is beneficial.
• Will be subject to a BPSS security check and may require UK SC‑level clearance.
