Operational Security Lead – Filton

About the role

The Filton Operational Security Lead supports the Head of Site Security in delivering a robust security framework that protects Airbus against prevailing threats while safeguarding the bottom line. The role combines protective security processes, risk assessment, event planning, people safety and security systems implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and contribute to the implementation of protective security activities, ensuring compliance with established policies and frameworks.
• Jointly manage security service providers, driving proactive oversight and performance optimisation.
• Collaborate in the management of security risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and continuous improvements.
• Act as the first point of escalation for any security systems issues or faults.
• Lead and support the implementation of Emergency Response protocols, ensuring readiness and alignment with best practices.
• Provide strategic security input into event and project planning, integrating risk assessments and security measures.
• Coordinate security arrangements for events, high‑profile visits and temporary deployments.
• Conduct audits and oversee compliance of security suppliers against contractual and regulatory obligations.
• Generate and present reports, offering insights to support functional goals and decision‑making.
• Lead investigations into theft, fraud allegations, near‑misses and road traffic incidents.

Required profile

• Level 5 qualification in Security Management or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven background in security management within large operational, commercial or industrial environments.
• Demonstrable expertise in applying Security Risk Management principles.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to analyse complex security challenges.
• Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance (SC) and successfully complete BPSS+ and UK Civil Aviation Enhanced vetting.
• Willingness to travel at short notice and respond to operational needs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with security systems tools, including G‑Suite.
