Operations Director – Manufacturing & Fabrication

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead all operational functions of a well‑established manufacturing and fabrication business in Hampshire. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will shape strategy, drive continuous improvement and support the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Key responsibilities

• Lead production, supply chain, procurement, warehousing and logistics.
• Develop and deliver an operational strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Improve performance through KPIs and data‑led decision making.
• Manage operational budgets and cost control.
• Lead, develop and mentor operational teams.
• Optimise processes, inventory and product availability.
• Deliver operational change and transformation projects.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
• Partner with senior leadership to support business growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Operations Director or Head of Operations in manufacturing or fabrication.
• Strong background in engineering or technical manufacturing environments.
• Expertise across production, supply chain and operational planning.
• Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Commercial and financial awareness.
• Hands‑on leadership style with excellent people management.
• Experience of overseas sourcing and outsourced manufacturing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
