Operations Manufacturing Manager

About the role

The Operations Manufacturing Manager will be based in the Birstall area of Leeds, reporting to the Operations Director. The role focuses on developing manufacturing teams, systems and processes across production, engineering, continuous improvement, quality, health & safety and logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Overall management of the manufacturing site, covering engineering, maintenance, H&S, logistics and production.
• Lead a workforce of 90‑110 staff, providing direct supervision and development.
• Accountable for QHSE and 5S initiatives across the site.
• Conduct daily morning meetings and toolbox talks to maintain safety and performance standards.
• Drive a continuous‑improvement mindset, identifying bottlenecks and implementing lean solutions.
• Control costs that directly affect plant performance and deliver regular reports to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Site General Manager, Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Factory Manager or Senior Production Manager.
• Proven track record in a complex, results‑oriented environment with a strong project focus.
• Ability to quickly identify and own process bottlenecks and drive improvements.
• Highly KPI‑oriented with a history of exceeding performance targets.
• People‑focused management style with experience leading large multidisciplinary teams.
