Operations Team Leader – Insurance

About the role

The specialist B2B insurance intermediary is seeking an Operations Team Leader to own day‑to‑day office operations from its Birmingham hub. You will combine people management, operational control and regulatory oversight while shaping efficient processes for a small, close‑knit team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a small team and ensure smooth office operations aligned with business goals.
• Oversee premium collection, claims handling and accurate company record‑keeping.
• Act as primary contact for audit requests from underwriters, auditors and regulators.
• Coach and develop team members to maximise performance.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial and bordereaux returns to underwriters.
• Maintain relationships with key suppliers and third‑party providers.
• Produce and present MI reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Represent the business client‑facing with technical credibility across insurance product lines.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in General and Life insurance.
• Ability to work independently in a regulated environment.
• Logical, analytical, data‑driven decision‑making.
• Working knowledge of FCA requirements, Fitness & Probity standards, GDPR and consumer protection legislation.
• Strong supplier and stakeholder management experience.
• Third‑level qualification in Finance, Project Management or related discipline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using CRM or policy administration systems.
