Outreach Support Worker (Carlisle)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Outreach Support Worker to join our team in Carlisle. You will work with young people and adults (16+) who have diverse needs, including mental health challenges and long‑term care experience. The role involves helping service users develop independent living skills and access education, employment, and health services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of service users across the Carlisle area, supporting independent living skills.
• Liaise with social workers, healthcare practitioners, DWP, police and other professionals.
• Write detailed reports assessing users' progress and needs.
• Conduct weekly property inspections for service users.
• Assist users in accessing and maintaining education or employment.
• Promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, de‑escalating challenging situations.
• Sign‑post to appropriate services such as mental health, drug rehabilitation and counselling.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting people with support needs, families or young people.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Carlisle and wider Cumbria area.
• Thorough knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
• Hold or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification.

Required skills

• Good understanding of Microsoft 365.
