Outsourcing Assistant – Accounting & Finance Support

About the role

We are looking for an Outsourcing Assistant to join a top‑20 accountancy practice in Farnham. In this permanent position you will support the Accounting & Finance department by handling day‑to‑day bookkeeping tasks and providing direct client assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Outsourcing Team with bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, including reconciliations and month‑end reviews.
• Review client entries and suggest corrections or efficiency improvements.
• Resolve client queries and prepare VAT returns for review and filing.
• Communicate with HMRC when required and perform general administration duties.
• Provide client support on various bookkeeping/accounting packages and visit clients on an ad‑hoc basis to resolve issues or undertake projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• AAT Level 3 or higher.
• Proficiency with Xero (Xero certified preferred).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with direct client liaison.
• VAT preparation experience; management accounts, personal tax, MTD ITSA and CIS knowledge are advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and accurate data‑entry skills.
