Packaging Operator – Day Shift (St Albans)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Packaging Operator to join our modern manufacturing facility in St Albans. The role is a day‑shift position (8:00 am‑4:00 pm, Monday‑Friday) delivering pharmaceutical products to major UK retailers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate packaging and production lines to meet daily and weekly output targets.
• Perform machine set‑ups, changeovers and clean‑downs within agreed timeframes.
• Load components and materials to ensure continuous line operation.
• Carry out in‑process quality checks following company procedures.
• Complete production paperwork and batch documentation accurately.
• Conduct basic mechanical troubleshooting and escalate issues when required.
• Minimise downtime and waste to maximise efficiency.
• Move materials and pallets safely using appropriate handling equipment.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, GMP and Standard Operating Procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, production or packaging environment.
• Experience operating automated or semi‑automated production machinery.
• Desirable: experience in pharmaceutical, food, FMCG, medical‑device or other regulated manufacturing.
• Desirable: knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Required skills

• Operation of automated packaging machinery.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting.
• Use of material handling equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, forklifts).

• Salary £26,436 per annum.
