Packaging Technologist – Up to £45k + profit share

About the role

Our client, a leading provider of product development, procurement and packaging services for health foods and supplements, is expanding its packaging team. The Packaging Technologist will lead the end‑to‑end packaging function, working closely with New Product Development, Design, Procurement, Operations, Quality and Technical teams to deliver innovative, cost‑effective and compliant packaging solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist knowledge on packaging substrates and print requirements for sachets, pouches, cartons, cans, bottles and other formats.
• Ensure packaging designs meet functional, cost, brand and regulatory requirements.
• Test materials and prototypes with suppliers during NPD and production validation.
• Develop and maintain relationships with print houses and packaging manufacturers, negotiating cost, lead times, MOQs and quality expectations.
• Track supplier performance, resolve issues quickly and support logistics and outer‑packaging planning.
• Collaborate with Design to translate brand concepts into production artwork and specifications.
• Support Quality & Technical teams to ensure compliance and approve first‑off‑the‑press samples.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 + years of packaging experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG or supplements.
• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate costs.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and quality standards for nutritional products.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills.
