Painter & Decorator – Council Properties (Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a Painter & Decorator to join the council’s decorating team in Bournemouth, supporting the maintenance of council properties. The role starts immediately on a three‑month fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of extension or permanent placement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare work areas and carry out general painting and decorating tasks across council properties.
• Perform surface preparation, masking, glossing and emulsion painting.
• Carry out woodwork, minor filling and sanding as required.
• Assist the decorating team with set‑up and clean‑up activities.

Required profile

• Hard‑working, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
• Good initiative and ability to work independently.
• No unspent criminal convictions; will undergo a basic DBS check.
• Own transport preferred, with a van available where possible.

What we offer

• Competitive rate of £16.73 per hour (£33,928 per annum).
• Full‑time hours: Mon‑Thu 8:00‑16:30, Fri 8:00‑15:30 (≈38 hrs/week).
